The Best Patio and Outdoor Furniture Brands and Suppliers for Designers

February 8, 2024

As a landscape designer who crafts outdoor sanctuaries, I’ve long held the conviction that the heart of any garden lies in the spaces where people gather to savor the landscape. Whether nestled in patio seating, gathered around a dining settee, or cozied up side by side on a bench, these are the spots where we immerse ourselves in the beauty of our surroundings. It’s where outdoor furniture suppliers can work their magic, elevating a mundane outdoor area into an oasis where you can relax, entertain, and forge a deeper connection with nature.

In my journey as a landscape designer, I’ve had the privilege of working with a plethora of outdoor furniture brands and suppliers, each specializing in unique offerings. From recycled plastic patio furniture that champions sustainability to wholesale furniture suppliers offering unbeatable deals and garden furniture suppliers who curate pieces of art, I’ve cultivated a directory of the finest.

Join me as I introduce you to a world of possibilities, including made-in-the-USA outdoor furniture and collaborations with a trusted garden furniture company. Your outdoor dreams are about to come to life!

A wooden bench in front of a brick wall.
The Rothesay bench by Barlow and Tyrie is the heaviest of seats they offer. It is designed with generous and impressive proportions, making it suitable for large gardens, streets, and commemorative locations. The rails can be carved with a message or fitted with a weatherproof bronze plaque.

Barlow Tyrie

Barlow Tyrie offers teak, stainless steel, aluminum, and woven furniture. It is a classic British company, and they are the oldest manufacturer of teak outdoor furniture.

Boxhill

Boxhill is based in Arizona (and was created by my friend and fellow Landscape designer, Elizabeth Przygoda.  They carry a fantastic collection of outdoor furniture and accessories from some of the best designers around the world.  They have a great web shop, and Boxhill works with retail and trade accounts.  Boxhill is one of the best outdoor furniture stores.

Danao

Danao Outdoor Vogue –  They have a nice collection that services primarily the hospitality industry – particularly high-end hotels. This is one of the best places to find modern pieces.

Design Within Reach

Design Within Reach – DWR represents over 25 different outdoor designer furniture lines.  They are all very different and very cool.  I can always find something I love at DWR.  The best thing about DWR is that their stores are found all over the United States.

A table and chairs in an outdoor setting.
The Apero patio chairs by Emu takes the traditional German wooden chair and gives it a contemporary style and design with clean lines. EMU’s expertise with metal tubing makes the seat and back appear light and airy, resulting in a fine, smooth silhouette.

Emu

Emu is another Italian manufacturer that has some exciting designs for outdoor furniture sets. Their specialty is metalwork and chairs and tables that easily stack and fold.  Explore deep into their website for their outlet deals that can be purchased online.

Expormim

Expormim is another Spanish collection and industry leader.  I love so many of the Spanish designs, they are well designed and innovative.

Gar Products

Gar is a family-run company whose outdoor offerings are limited to seating for restaurants and bars.  They focus primarily on the Contract market and hospitality furniture and supply a variety of woven, metal, teak, acrylic, copper, and bamboo furniture products.

A lounge chair and wicker lamp on a patio.
Gloster’s outdoor lamps have intricately hand-woven shades made of durable outdoor wicker. Available in various sizes and colorways, all featuring an energy-conscious LED lighting unit easily topped up by solar power or mains electricity.

Gloster

UK-based Gloster is traditionally known for its high quality teak furniture but, in recent years, has added modern alternatives that use stainless steel, aluminum, and man-made wicker. Their products are available in the USA through specialty retailers found on their site.  Products are also available to the trade for residential and hospitality projects.  Gloster’s Instagram

Ikea

Ikea – If you don’t have access to an Ikea, I feel your pain.  I lived many years without and I missed tremendously the easy access to inexpensive design.  Ikea is always a great option for something interesting at an affordable price.  Ikea also is great for contemporary designs that will fit into small spaces.  You will have to visit their big-box store (which is always an adventure) to see their collection of contemporary outdoor furniture.  Be aware that if you are in an area with seasons, there may be times of the year when the outdoor selection might not be on display or available.

A patio with a fire pit and chairs.
A rustic, charming outdoor firepit and dining area in the heart of Telluride, CO designed by @studiofrank. Featuring the Roy lounge chairs from Janus et Cie.  A modern wood picnic table is in the background.

Janus et Cie

Janus et Cie carries all the great European outdoor lines in the patio furniture industry.  This is one of the best outdoor furniture brands – their furniture pieces are chic and beautiful, and consequently, they tend to be expensive.  But totally drool-worthy.

Kingsley Bate

Kingsley Bate is 100% British-crafted teak furniture.  It’s all classic teak and really nothing else, however there have been some french designs added in recent years that are particularly nice – make sure to check out the Normany colleciton as well as the cafe furniture.

A chair in a garden.
The everyday Chair from Landscape Forms is inspired by the vintage camp chairs that have become symbols of good times spent outside but grown up and with a more sophisticated sense of style.

Landscape Forms

Landscape Forms also has a considerable amount of site furnishings, but their collections are perhaps a bit more versatile.  I can see many of them in a garden setting, my favorite being the parc centre chair. Landscape Forms was created by landscape architects and is based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This is a site with a lot of options and choices.

Loll Designs

Loll creates modern, durable, all-weather outdoor garden furniture from 100% recycled plastic. Their designs are easily identifiable, and their tagline is “outdoor furniture for the modern Lollygagger”.

A tennis court with a bench and tennis balls.
Mckinnon and Harris’s tennis umpire chair has been an obsession of mine for over a decade.  They are a luxury outdoor furniture collection. Also pictured is one of the various benches in the Virginia collection.

Mckinnon and Harris

McKinnon and Harris make beautiful, classic American high-end garden furniture.  One of my favorites, the lines are always perfect, classy and beautiful.  Shopping on their site makes you feel like Daisy Buchannan, making sure that your West Egg home is ready for the summer.

Orange Italia

Orange Italia isn’t breaking new flashy designs, but they will suit if it’s basic commercial, recreational furniture you are after.  Lots of stuff you might see around a huge mid-level hotel pool.  In the USA, it is available through Brigadoon Fitness

Oxford Gardens

Oxford Gardens – Basic and simple mid-priced wood furniture. As outdoor furniture suppliers go – they aren’t the most inspiring, but they are solid.

Rausch

Rausch is a German company that has a nice collection of classic-styled outdoor furniture, but they also have a nice mix of very modern designed pieces.

RD Italia

RD Italia is much like Orange Italia, but the designs are perhaps a little more quirky and interesting. Their products are manufactured in Italy, and they specialize in contract-grade stackable outdoor chairs.

Room and Board

Room & Board – Authentic hand-crafted, comfortable, stylish furniture.

Rockwood Furniture Co.

Rockwood has a variety of outdoor furniture lines, including Summer Classics and a popular poly furniture line that is constructed with recycled materials. This Texas based company caters to homeowners as well as design professionals who are working on retail and hospitality projects.  They have traditional shapes and lines as well as some innovative shapes.

A table with chairs and a lamp.
The Walters Outdoor Arbor Collection is characterized by its dramatic woven backrests and modern designs that offers lounging and dining essentials with a stylish edge. The collection’s dynamic A-frame teak structures are offset by elegantly curved backrests, which are crafted from durable, weather-resistant rope.

Site Scapes Outdoor Furniture Suppliers

Site Scapes is primarily a site furnishings company (pieces for corporate, commercial or public use) based in Lincoln, Nebraska.

A blue metal chair with a blue cushion and a magazine on a table.
Three Coins Windsor table, setee and chairs and coffee table are cast aluminum and can be finished in a variety of colors like this pretty blue) as well as metallic colors.

Three Coins (TC Castings)

Another family run business – Three Coins (TC Castings) has a distinct look.  Its traditional line is heavily scrolled old-world cast iron patio furniture. This is high-quality outdoor furniture but perhaps slightly old-fashioned.  I really like the newer collections, which are beautiful cast aluminum reproductions of the Mount Vernon Chair.  The Windsor chair is also a very nice early American style.

Uwharrie

Uwharrie is based near High Point, North Carolina, and offers all kinds of country rustic down home-feeling pieces – all very American looking. It is colorful and kinda mid-western in my mind. Their pieces are heavy and generously scaled and crafted from kiln-dried pressure-treated southern yellow pine or Premium Uwharrie Polymer, which is manufactured from purified blends of post-consumer, pre-consumer, and/or virgin HDPE (high-density polyethylene) base resins.

Walters Wicker

Walters Wicker is just as it sounds — their outdoor collection is lots of interesting wicker and woven designs for residential and hospitality.  They are partnered with other lines like Giati FurnitureEthimo, Manutti, and Box Living.  They have a Flagship store in New York City and also offer a variety of outdoor fabric options.

If I’ve missed a great resource, add it to the list in the comments.  I’m always interested in finding new outdoor furniture suppliers and sources and interesting designs.
